Split PST to fix ‘out of memory’ error in Outlook 2007
So far possible large PST files should be avoided doing so greatly reduces the chance of PST corruption and thus data loss. Along with that, slow behavior of outlook in performing functions such as sending and receiving emails, opening, deleting and such others. Outlook 2007 experiences such a problem due to increase in file size more than 4GB. This then results in abrupt functioning of outlook with generation of error messages. In order to resolve the error you need to split PST file as this is the most efficient and feasible choice. Besides that other options are available as well i.e. compressing/compacting PST file or deleting emails & other items not required.
Apart from these, system requirements that include hardware and software are also sometimes responsible for slow outlook 2007. Many a time’s error message written below may be displayed while accessing Outlook
Task ‘task_name’-sending and receiving’ reported error (0X8007000E):’Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows or programs and try again.
The ‘task_name’ refers to the name of task that outlook is unable to complete.
Out of memory error may occur due to one of the following error-
- Shortage of computer resources –memory needed or motherboard issues
- Large size PST file
To fix the issue, first it should be checked that whether or not other programs are running properly, if not problem lies in the system and needs corrected by increasing memory or using other motherboard.
But, if problem is due to large size of outlook, one of the following may be done
- Deleting emails and emptying the ‘deleted items folder’ and compacting PST
- PST is archived with old emails moved to another PST
- Dividing large sized files into small ones using skillful techniques such that resultant files are independently usable
The division can be done either on sender’s email ID or on date using safe read only splitting algorithm easily.
