Resolution for slow performance issues in outlook 2007
Outlook 2007 is the latest version of outlook that comes along with Microsoft office suite and separately as well. Various improvements in functionality and reliability also exist in it, like support to both UNICODE and ANSI file format and high data storage capacity of 20 GB. However there includes number of performance issue in outlook 2007, particularly non responding program all of sudden at the time of reading, deleting or moving email messages. Slow performance in outlook 2007 can most clearly be observed while synchronizing and delivering emails.
Moreover the problem becomes complex as the size of store .ost and .pst grows nearly to 2 GB. With very large .pst or very large .ost of around 4 GB issues are found to be more prominent.
The cause being introduction of new data structure of .ost and .pst file such that new features can be implemented as required. With increase in number of email and other items frequency of hard disk data writing speed is also increased.
In addition to the above and the most obvious reason for performance issue in outlook 2007, many others may also be responsible such as-

- Large size PST
For resolving slow performance in outlook 2007, one of the following may be tried for –
- Installing update for Outlook 2007
- Reducing exchange mailbox size store
- Using online mode profile
- Split PST files of larger size into smaller ones using PST splitter
- Filter can be used for preventing the entry of data items from exchange to .ost
It is very important to split PST file which otherwise may lead to damages in the file if problem of taking too long time to load or access if not resolved timely. Moreover slow performance issue is just wastage of time and also harms outlook functionality which is not acceptable and should neither be. Splitting can be done in an efficient way with data unaltered or overwritten for read only conduct of the software. Date and email –ID are the two fields based on which files can be splitted for outlook 2007, 2003, 2002 and 2000 on windows system.
