Outlook PST too large 0x80048002 error
For management of emails and other data items appointments, notes etc Outlook is used. With time several advancements has been made in the application which includes outlook 2003 and outlook 2007. Later versions store data in UNICODE format and have much more increased storage capacity of 20GB. This solves most of the problem particularly errors arising due to 2 GB file size limit of Outlook 2002, outlook 2000 etc. In this situation error outlook PST too large 0X80048002 is most often encountered.
Basically increase in file size above 2 GB, renders overall functionality of outlook useless. Neither appointments nor notes can be looked into nor emails could be received or sent as access to outlook data files is not possible. Along with, it anytime processing is tried for error code 0x80048002 while receiving email and ox8004060C is shown.
Cause for such an issue to take place is again the modification made from Microsoft for outlook 2002 regarding its size limit, such that corruption of .pst files can be avoided as it is about to reach 2 GB i.e. around 1.98 GB or so. Email delivery is not possible but the error so displayed does not reveal the cause which is huge sized PST and so resolution cannot be done.
Also it is not possible to delete emails mostly because outlook.pst is cannot be opened. But, even if it does on trying to delete email message as “unknown error has prevented this action” comes up. It is hardly possible to apply any process compacting or archiving, all that need to be done is splitting of PST file.
