How to fix oversized PST files?
With constant use over long time pst file size keeps increasing, it is since every mail we receive or any contact we add and other file attachment all adds to outlook pst. With continued processing a time may come, when file size becomes enormously large and using one way or another the files need to be split.
For this very purpose of lowering file size, Microsoft outlook included the option of file archiving. With the help of this feature the file can be archived and saved at a defined location. However the process is easy so far the file size is small, for large email stores it may function differently. As in such case, there is high probability of non systematic archiving or loosing one or more important emails.
Today emails are the most used source for data transfer meaning to say, any email you send or receive have its own critical importance. No one would anyway accept loss of even one of it. Also in business working as per the need within real time is essential. Owing to this, once while you may be in the need of separating out all emails you received in the year 2010 from a particular user.
At a particular moment, you may find this doable but as you go through and find not less than 1000 or such mails are there, situation becomes complex. This is the time; you need split PST by date/year, ever advanced tool equipped in division of files into small size and accordingly the required set of data is made available.
Following steps describe how to split PST file by year date –
- Run the program
- From there select ‘split single file’ option
- Now click ‘select PST file’ button to browse and select the file, for unknown location ‘find’ option is also available to locate required files
- Finally, split button is to be selected after which the criteria will be asked for date, size, email ID or simply select and split

Resulting from the above, pst split by date and year you will find the file containing list of emails received from particular user during given span of time. this way you can split file irrespective of their size outlook version, as outlook 2007, 2003, 2002, 2000 etc all are supported.
