Fix Error 0x8004060C encountered in Outlook 2003

MS Outlook manages all the important documents of the users including mails, journals, appointments, notes, contacts etc. but the only limitation is that Outlook 2002 and earlier version uses ANSI formatted PST files with the size limit of 2GB. Because of this, when the file reaches beyond 2GB, the files get prone to corruption and many types of errors are received constantly on the screen. One such error is 0x8004060C error.

Supposes a situation where you are using Outlook 2003 to mange your important mails, contacts and other documents. But when you go to send or check the mails, the following message appears on the screen:

"Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server - Receiving' reported error (0x8004060C): ‘Unknown Error 0x8004060C'"

Further, if you try to add any data to the PST files, another error message gets flashed stating:

“The file has reached its maximum size. To reduce the amount of data in this file, select some items that you no longer need, then permanently (shift + del) delete them."

Cause:

The cause for error 0x8004060C outlook 2003, is the large sized PST file i.e. file is about to exceed the file size limit of 2GB.

Resolution:

To resolve this error, you can try out the below stated solutions:

• Make deletion of those mails or other PST objects that are less important or are of no use and also empty up the Deleted Items folder.
• Compaction of PST file can also be a better option
• PST archiving can also be done

But after performing these solutions, even if the error persists then go for using PST Splitter tool that safely split PST files into smaller divisions on the basis of various criteria like by sender’s email ID, date or folders etc. It completely fixes 0x8004060C error and is compatible with almost all the versions of Outlook.
